Day 139

Sail Day.

Two lovely days out in the boat coming up.

Today day pretty strong westerly gusting force 5 reefed and small jib working well just blasting around the bay over to Penlee Point.  Put in a second reef in the lee of the land and as this is still a very basic rig I have to take the boom and mainsail down into the boat to do it and this attracts the concerned attention of a guy in a proper yacht who’s motoring into Newlyn and doubles back to ask if I need any assistance.  Kind of him.  But no, I’m ok and all is well.  And with the double reefed main the dinghy’s very well balanced in the increasing blow.  I head back across to Pz and spend a hour or so dodging around the sailing club bouys practicing picking them up under various sail configurations.  Good fun.  And give chase to an interesting wooden schooner that’s been sitting on one of the visitors moorings – lovely to see then slowly pick up the wind and pick up speed, leaving me behind.

Later I’m out in the bus to Carn Gloose for the sunset and cooked up lamb chops and garden potatoes, and some cougettes and tomatoes from the cafe with Alison.
