Up to the barn this morning to pick up some tools and the blackberries are just incredible. There’s a mostly neglected orchard up the valley and the brambles have taken over, winding up the trees but the spoils are worth the thorns and scratches. I’ve never seen such abundance, scoffing handfuls of goodness and picking up windfall apples too.
Later Richard B comes over and we take out Marin-Marie, sailing over to Prussia Cove in a nice breeze, sun shining – it feels good to be out on the water and I’m feeling better for it. Richard has been discovering Frank and Margaret Dye, the Wayfarer dinghy cruising pioneers and has found on YouTube a film Frank Dye made of his extraordinary 1964 voyage from Scotland to Norway. No nonsense!
